Oklahomans for Life: Mary Fallin is Pro Life; Askins Record “Mixed”

From the Oklahomans for Life Monthly Letter:

“… Republican Mary Fallin is leaving Congress, where she has had a 100% pro-life voting record throughout her career, to run for governor. She is opposed by Democrat Jari Askins, who had a mixed voting record on the right-to-life issue in the state House of Representatives.

“Jari Askins was quoted in a September 11, 2010 Tulsa World article as saying: ‘In my personal belief, abortion is not a birth-control method. But I have always thought there should be exceptions for things like rape and incest and the health of the mother." Unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court has defined ‘health’ in the abortion context as including ‘all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age – relevant to the well-being of the patient. All these factors may relate to health.’ (Doe v. Bolton, Jan. 22, 1973.) The ‘health’ exception has been the pro-abortion movement‟s most manipulated tool to perpetuate legal abortion on demand.

“Mary Fallin’s answers to our candidate survey were 100% pro-life. We did not receive answers from Jari Askins to our pro-life survey.”
