National Veterans Group Endorses Mary Fallin for Oklahoma Governor

In a recent letter, the National Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans Coalition endorsed Mary Fallin for Oklahoma governor.

The group wrote:
Your leadership, patriotism and common sense are especially needed at this particular time in our history when our beloved country is at risk, not only from foreign terrorists, but also from domestic advocates of extreme social and economic "reform" and the weaklings who fail to confront them. ...
As veterans, we served to protect our nation and, although we are concerned about veterans issues, we continue to be focused, like you, on "What can we do for our country?" ...
We are very appreciative of your strong efforts to stem the tide of illegal immigration which severly threatens our national security. ... We are also very grateful for your heaving supported efforts to effect the return of our POWs.

Rasmussen: Mary Fallin Hits 60%; Now Up By 26 Points in the Oklahoma Governor Race

From Rasmussen Reports.com:

Republican Congresswoman Mary Fallin has jumped to a 26-point lead over Democrat Jari Askins in Okahoma’s gubernatorial race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Fallin picking up 60% support, while Askins, the state’s current lieutenant governor, earns 34% of the vote. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
This race remains Solid GOP in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.
Last month, Fallin led Askins 52% to 37%. Prior to the latest survey, Fallin’s support remained in the 51% to 57% range in surveys conducted since February. Askins received between 32% and 37% support during the same period.
The winner of this race will be the state's first woman governor.
Fallin earns the vote from 89% of Oklahoma Republicans, while Askins is backed by just 64% of Democrats. Fallin holds a 25-point lead over Askins among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

From the Blogosphere: Everybody Wants to Be a Conservative

The blog, The Conservative Pup, writes about the Oklahoma governor's race:

Mary Fallin has stated clearly and without politi-speak her position on illegal immigration.  Gov. Jan Brewer has endorsed Mary Fallin.  Mary Fallin isn’t afraid to take a stand.
Her opponent hasn’t taken a stand, not really.  Though I suppose you could make the case that in answering that she does support the Dream Act, and by not stating clearly if she supports Arizona’s legislation on illegal trespassers that she has taken a stand.
That’s not the stand that is good for Oklahoma.  And it’s not the stance of an ‘Oklahoma conservative.’
Oklahomans have a choice in November between two women to be our next governor, and only Mary Fallin is a conservative in this race.

Tulsa Beacon: Brogdon endorses Mary Fallin

The Tulsa Beacon this week covered Mary Fallin's recent endorsement from state Sen. Randy Brogdon.

State Senator Randy Brogdon has endorsed U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, who defeated Brogdon in the July 27 Republican primary for governor.
Fallin faces Lt. Gov. Jari Askins, who narrowly defeated Attorney General Drew Edmondson in the Democrat primary. In the GOP race, Fallin got 54.7 percent compared to 39 percent for Brogdon.
“If you are a committed constitutional conservative, as I am and as my supporters are, it is extremely important to get out and vote for Mary Fallin this November,” said Brogdon.
“Unlike her Democratic opponent, Mary has fought tooth and nail against President Obama’s unconstitutional federal takeover of the health care system. She’s stood up for gun rights and she’s stood by Arizona in their fight to enforce the rule of law and stop the flood of illegal immigration at our borders. Mary is the conservative choice for governor in November, and I am asking those constitutional conservatives who supported my campaign to now support Mary in hers.”

Mary Fallin Interview with The Otter Limits blog

Mary Fallin recently conducted an interview via e-mail with the blog The Otter Limits.  Here are a couple of questions:

1. Why are you running for Governor of the State of Oklahoma?
I am running for governor to restore principled, conservative leadership to the governor’s office. For too long, we’ve been without a leader whose focus has been on job growth and fiscal discipline. I plan on being that leader. As your next governor, I will create an atmosphere where businesses and the private sector can thrive, more and better jobs are brought into Oklahoma, and our state government operates in a smarter, more modern and more efficient way.
2. Can you briefly tell me why the voters should choose you over Jari Askins?
If you are a conservative voter looking for a conservative candidate, I am your gal. I stood up to President Obama’s big spending, big government agenda. I voted against Obamacare and I was one of the first to encourage our state leaders, including Lieutenant Governor Askins, to join other states in challenging the constitutionality of that law. I support tough, smart policies to combat illegal immigration, similar to what we’ve seen in Arizona. And I am pro-gun and pro-Constitution, with an “A” rating from the NRA.
Compare that record to that of my opponent. She says she still hasn’t read the health care bill and doesn’t have any opinion either way on Obamacare. She opposes Arizona’s immigration law. And she was one of only 5 state representatives to vote against a law allowing law abiding, permitted gun owners to carry concealed weapons.
I think it’s clear that I am the conservative candidate in this race and that my views are the views of the average Oklahoman. My opponent, on the other hand, leans far to the left and her politics have more in common with President Obama’s than with the working men and women of our state.

Stop Illegal Immigration NOW! Sign Our Online Petition

Like many of you, I was outraged to hear this week the Obama administration plans to challenge the new Arizona illegal immigration law.

Instead of promoting policies that protect our nation’s borders and enforce our laws, President Obama has chosen to criticize and challenge Gov. Brewer and her state for protecting its citizens by addressing a problem Washington has ignored for far too long.

I support the Arizona law which basically says: if you live in Arizona, you must live there legally.

One thing you can do to help, is join me in supporting Gov. Brewer and the people of Arizona by signing an online petition in support of their efforts to stop illegal immigration. By signing our petition, you’ll be telling President Obama you want our borders secured and illegal immigration stopped!
